In 2024-2025, Rotary's focus areas will be peacebuilding and conflict prevention, as well as health, including mental health activities, that are critical to District 1420.
Rotary has been a very important force in the world as a guarantor of peace. The UN Declaration of Human Rights was developed at the Rotary Conference of 1940. Rotary and the United Nations work together for world understanding and peace. In 1942, Rotary clubs from 21 countries organized a conference in London to develop ideas for the promotion of education, science and culture in all countries. This event planted the seed for an organization now known as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO.)
The Rotary District1420 Conference on 19 October 2024 at the European Capital of Culture in Tartu is called "Together: Health and Peace" Our Rotary district is as strong as strong are Rotary clubs in our district. My leadership actions should come from the question: How can I support our Rotary clubs to grow, flourish and support RI global strategy?
I hope, that I will be a governor, who is:
- mentor who helps clubs to implement their endeavours.
- friend who inspires Rotarians to strive towards RI vision and strategy.
- Rotarian who is able to understand and to adapt to change in our world and societies.
One possible way to achieve governor challenges is to meet as many Rotarians and apply the principle: LISTEN – ASK – LEARN.
One district-four languages-two countries, zero problems- this is District 1420
